STEP INTO OUR WORLD AND LIVE LIKE A LOCAL!
While living in London, Marc and Alan enjoyed many a vacation to Andalusia and began falling under the allure of Malaga and the surrounding province. On a whim, they decided to look into properties in the region. After viewing various properties near Marbella and the west of Malaga, they found El Carligto in the less populated, more naturally impressive locale east of Malaga known as La Axarquia.
Already on the approach to the property their hearts were set on the magical and awe inspiring private hilltop that is the Estate of Cortijo El Carligto. Marc already had the renovations planned out in his mind by the time they were able to complete the purchase a full year and a half later, and when they moved to Andalucía in January of 2009 the dream began taking shape.
From that time the work on El Carligto and the estate’s gardens moved quickly. By the end of the year El Carligto was open to guests and had already garnered the attention of such publications as Conde Nast Traveller, followed by The Wall Street Journal and Travel + Leisure. The companion property on the Carligto Estate, the Hunting Lodge, opened later after a total renovation in 2014, creating new opportunities and flexibility for groups of varying size and completing the grandeur of the Estate of Cortijo El Carligto.
Marc’s previous professional experience includes IT/telecoms management roles, consulting, and corporate change management; Alan’s background lies mainly in education and training and the public and private sectors. Both Marc and Alan share a passion for travel and culinary explorations, which flavours their approach to the holiday rental business.
